I recently rediscovered this order form for merchandise included in my 1978 Commodores´LP album "Natural High". And I fell immediately in love with the blue T-Shirt (with silver metallic print!).

Splendid! Formatmag.com, picocool.com and existingvisual.com feature my papercuts and top it with a nice description. To see what this is about check out my "Objects" album on Flickr and the feature on formatmag.com, picocool.com and existingvisual.com.

JF
My second virtual engraving, this time it´s young Jane Fonda, actress and peace activist. Jane´s hair gave me a bloody hard time, next time I will try with Telly Savalas.

Major

Finally, after endless tries, I have managed to recreate engraving style line art from regular grayscale images. It is a complicated process and my respect for old age engravers grew with every single "Undo"-command. By carefully placing lines of varying weight, scale, curvature and distance to each other an engraver was able to simulate color, surface, depth and dimension with striking accuracy. This art is almost totally lost today.

The Quick and A Lazy
"The Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over The lazy Dog" is a "pangram", a sentence which contains each letter of the alphabet at least once. Pangrams are used to display typefaces. Apple and Microsoft use the fox-pangram with their font management software, which makes this particular pangram the most famous. The shorter a pangram the better it is considered. This one contains 35 letters and enthusiasts claim to replace the second "the" by "a" to make it shorter. This is what my newest collage is about.

Love & Peace
My latest work. I had to get away from the screen and back to scissors and glue. Much constructing and thinking ahead went into this piece. I tried to make it look like you could bend and twine flat paper. In fact the type consists of several stacked layers of orange paper. Turned out quite nice, ey? I have more pics of this in my Flickr gallery.

Heaven´s On the Backside Of My Photographs, Part 2
Yet another example of a backside labeled photo plate from Austria. A wonderful, delicate piece of graphic design. Note the date 1897. More to come.
